Central Pacific Cable Expansion to American Samoa

May 5, 2026

APTelecom has announced plans to advance an extension of the Central Pacific Cable initiative into American Samoa, further strengthening connectivity across the South Pacific.

The proposed extension is designed to improve regional resilience, increase route diversity, and support long-term digital inclusion by connecting the U.S. territory into the wider Central Pacific Cable network. The project reflects APTelecom’s broader focus on developing future ready infrastructure in underserved Pacific markets.

The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority will act as the local counterparty, supporting coordination for the new connection. APTelecom has also provided advisory and training support to strengthen local capability in technical and commercial areas. Backed by support from the Department of War and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, the initiative highlights the strategic importance of secure and reliable communications infrastructure for regional development, safety, and economic growth. APTelecom will continue working with local stakeholders as the project progresses.
