March 3, 2026

In February 2026, the United States hosted leaders and senior officials from 16 Pacific Island countries and territories in Honolulu for The Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security, and Shared Prosperity Summit. Held from February 22 to 24 at the East-West Center, the summit brought together Pacific delegations, U.S. private-sector representatives, and key U.S. government finance agencies including the United States International Development Finance Corporation, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).

More than 80 American companies participated, including APTelecom, as discussions focused on infrastructure, energy security, supply chains, the digital economy, and broader economic growth across the Indo-Pacific region.

The summit concluded with announcements of new U.S.-funded initiatives supporting healthcare, digital transformation, transportation infrastructure, and undersea cable expansion in the Pacific Islands. Among these was funding to expand the Pacific Connect undersea cable network to the Republic of the Marshall Islands and American Samoa, alongside feasibility studies and digital transformation programs supported by USTDA. The gathering underscored the shared commitment to advancing investment, strengthening connectivity, and promoting long-term prosperity across the Pacific.
